Upland Bird Hunts Around Big Timber, Montana

From September thru October we hunt around Big Timber, Montana.  The terrain consists of short and mixed-grass prairie, juniper savanna, sagebrush steppe, mountain foothills, bench lands, coulees and alfalfa fields. We hunt beautiful private ranches near the Crazy Mountains with breath taking scenery.

This area has some of the best Hungarian partridge habitat in the state.  The Big Timber area also has very good sharp-tailed grouse habitat. There is also some incidental hunting for blue (dusky) grouse and ruffed grouse.

Expect to walk six to eight miles a day.  All the land we hunt in Big Timber has private access.

Hungarian Partridge is often the main focus in this area.

Lodging and Package Options for Big Timber

We offer a three day hunt, and we can provide a three day four night package that includes meals and lodging at the homestead bed and breakfast or The Bramble House Inn. Dogs are welcome. 

You may also procure your own lodging and meet us for day hunts.

2025 Package RATES - 3 Days / 4 Nights:

• $4,500 / hunter (two-hunter minimum)
• $5,700 / single hunter
• $600 / non-hunter (shared room)

2025 RATES – Daily:

• $1,100 / hunter (two hunters minimum)
• $1,500 / single hunter
• $125 / non-hunter

Additional days are $1,295/day/hunter (two-hunter minimum) and $1,705/day (single hunter). We do not mix hunting parties. We have a maximum of three hunters per guide. Guides do not carry a gun. Only break-action shotguns are allowed on our hunts.  Rates include meals, lodging, 8% bed tax, soft drinks, guide, dogs, lease fees, vehicles in the field and bird cleaning.  Meals begin the first evening of your stay. Rates do not include transportation to lodging, alcoholic beverages, room pet fees, guns, shells, gratuities or licenses.
